EDRG 2024 Annual Science Retreat

18 – 19th July 2024

This year the Annual Science Retreat was held in Bunbury, on the south-west coast of Western Australia. The team had a great two day science meeting and included a significant online presence from our collaborators from the EDRC (Earth Evolution and Dynamics Research Center) in Qingdao, China. We also welcomed a special visitor, independant filmmaker Dani Tolino from South America. We discussed many of the important scientific advances that had been made over the last 12 months, but also of the many exciting collaborative opportunities within the larger team.

Following the science focussed discussion we had the priviledge of viewing some amazing short films from some of the Dani Tolino’s time spent in the Amazon Rainrofest. We look forward to potentially assisting in telling the story of the Amazonia craton back in Earth’s history.

Before heading back to Perth, we all visited the ocean side and an impressive outcrop of the Bunbury Basalts. The breif (due to the cooler temperatures and a stiff breeze) geology stop capped another wonderful retreat. The EDRG (& EDRC) are looking forward to what should hopefully be another prodoctive year.
